THE WAIT LIST
Poets Grove has a waiting list for both Sessional Kindergarten and Extended Hours Day Care. Due to lack of demand, the Occasional Care service has now ceased.

THE EARLIEST YOU CAN APPLY FOR THE SESSIONAL KINDERGARTEN WAIT LIST IS THE 31ST JANUARY IN THE YEAR YOUR CHILD IS TURNING TWO. NO MINIMUM AGE APPLIES TO WAIT LIST APPLICATIONS FOR OUR CHILDCARE SERVICE. TO PLACE YOUR CHILD/REN ON THE WAITLIST, PLEASE FILL IN ALL DETAILS ON THE APPLICATION FORM BELOW. A SEPARATE APPLICATION FORM MUST BE COMPLETED FOR EACH CHILD IN THE CASE OF MULTIPLE ATTENDEES.

YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THE EXACT YEAR YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO COMMENCE IN THE SESSIONAL KINDERGARTEN SERVICE. IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR CHILD TO ATTEND BOTH 3YO AND 4YO KINDER, PLEASE SELECT BOTH YEARS. IT IS NOT ASSUMED THAT REGISTERING FOR 3YO AUTOMATICALLY REGISTERS YOU FOR 4YO. (PLEASE READ THE "SESSIONAL KINDERGARTEN POLICY" OF THE FAQ SECTION OF THIS WEBSITE, PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR THE WAIT LIST.)

WHEN YOU CLICK "SUBMIT" AT THE COMPLETION OF YOUR APPLICATION, A CONFIRMATION NOTICE WILL APPEAR ON THE SCREEN TO NOTIFY YOU THAT YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN RECEIVED.

We will do our best to contact you using the information provided but if we are unable to, we will assume you no longer require care and your name will be taken off the waiting list so please stay in contact with the centre while your name is on the waiting list to advise of any changes to original information.


THE SERVICES

Long Day Care
is childcare/education for children from 3 months to school age. You can choose how many days per week you need this service and priority is given to children where both parents work or to single parents. it operates 49 weeks p.a. from 7.15a.m.-6.15p.m.

Extended hours kindergarten>
is available for four year old children. It is encapsulated within the long daycare model. The centre receives State Government funding for eligible children within this program.

4 y.o. Sessional Kindergarten
provides 11 hours of kindergarten spread throughout two or three sessions. In 2008 there will be two groups of 30 children.

3 y.o. Sessional Kindergarten
provides 6 hours of kindergarten spread over two three hour sessions. In 2008 there will be two groups of 15 children.

NB: Sessional kindergarten models operate in line with the Victorian School terms.Parental involvement essential to the successful running of the program.

Occasional Care
Service ceased due to lack of demand.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

For Long Day Care:

Childcare places are offered according to the Federal Government's Priority of Access guidelines. these guidelines give priority of placement to:
* workforce participants, where a single or both parents are employed, seeking employment or studying / training for future employment.
* children or parents with a continuing disability
* parents at home with more than one child below school age and single parents at home.
We also give priority to children on the waiting list who have siblings already at the centre.

CASUAL BOOKINGS
Vacant places and those where a permanent child is absent are offered for use by children needing extra days / sessions. These positions are only offered to current users of the centre.
For Sessional Kindergarten:

1. Date of application
2. Previous sibling
3. Elwood resident
4. Children with disabilities or special needs
5. Children from other Suburbs within the COPP
6. Children from Other Councils.

Birth Date:
Children will need to be 3 by 31st January the year the child is to commence 3YO kindergarten.
Children need to be 4 by the 31st April the year the child is to commence 4YO kindergarten.
Parents may register their child for Enrolment on the website or by calling Poet’s Grove Administration officer.

Once a child’s name is placed on the waitlist, the administration officer will send a return email/ letter confirming receipt of application.
First round offers for 2009 will be sent in July 2008.
If offers are not returned within two weeks the place will be offered to the next child on the waitlist.
Parents are strongly encouraged to notify Poet’s Grove with any change in contact details.
Once all groups are finalized a confirmation letter of their group choices will be sent to parents with orientation details for 2009.
