Poets Grove Sessional Kindergarten Waiting List - Application Form

THE WAIT LIST

Please note important changes to the Poets Grove waiting list:

As of October 2008, childcare (long day care and extended hours kindergarten) waiting list applications must be made through the City of Port Phillip. Please ph 9209 6360 to put your details on to the childcare waiting list. Please do not use this online application form for childcare applications. Sessional kindergarten applications are to be made via the following online application form. The earliest you can register your child for sessional kindergarten is 31st January in the year your child is turning two.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES USING BOTH LONG DAY CARE AND SESSIONAL KINDERGARTEN

WAIT LIST REGISTRATION INFORMATION

A separate application form must be completed for each child in the case of multiple attendees. You must register for the exact year you want your child to commence in the sessional kindergarten service. If you would like your child to attend both 3yo and 4yo kindergarten, please select both years. It is not assumed that registering for 3yo automatically registers you for 4yo. Please read the Sessional Kindergarten Policy of the FAQ section of this website prior to applying for the waitlist. When you click "Submit" at the completion of your application, a confirmation notice will appear on the screen to notify you that your application has been received. A confirmation letter will be emailed to you (posted if you don't have an email address) within 14 days of your application to confirm your details. If you do not receive your confirmation letter, please contact our office (ph 9531 6563 or email info@poetsgrove.com) to check that your application has been received.

We will do our best to contact you using the information provided but if we are unable to, we will assume you no longer require sessional kindergarten and your name will be taken off the waiting list so please stay in contact with the centre while your name is on the waiting list to advise of any changes to original information.

THE SERVICES

Long Day Care (to be applied for via City of Port Phillip - ph 9209 6360)
is childcare/education for children from 3 months to school age. You can choose how many days per week you need this service and priority is given to children where both parents work or to single parents. Long day care operates 49 weeks per year from 7.15a.m.-6.15p.m Monday - Friday.

Extended hours kindergarten (to be applied for via City of Port Phillip - ph 9209 6360)>
is available for four year old children. It is encapsulated within the long daycare model. The centre receives State Government funding for eligible children within this program.

4 y.o. Sessional Kindergarten
provides 11 hours of kindergarten spread throughout two or three sessions. Go to the Services/Kindergarten menu for further information about groups/timetables/fees.

3 y.o. Sessional Kindergarten
provides 6 hours of kindergarten spread over two three hour sessions. Go to the Services/Kindergarten menu for further information about groups/timetables/fees.

NB: Sessional kindergarten models operate in line with the Victorian School terms. Parental involvement is essential to the successful running of the program.

Holiday Program
A holiday program will be available in 2010 for all Poets Grove children ranging from 3 to Prep school age. Further information will be available at a later date.

SELECTION CRITERIA

For Long Day Care:

* workforce participants, where a single or both parents are employed, seeking employment or studying/training for future employment.
* children or parents with a continuing disability
* parents at home with more than one child below school age and single parents at home.
We also give priority to children on the waiting list who have siblings already at the centre.

CASUAL BOOKINGS
Vacant places and those where a permanent child is absent are offered for use by children needing extra days/sessions. These positions are only offered to current users of the centre.

For Sessional Kindergarten:

1. Date of application
2. Previous sibling
3. Elwood resident
4. Children with disabilities or special needs
5. Children from other suburbs within the COPP
6. Children from other councils.

Birth Date:
Children will need to be 3 by 31st January the year the child is to commence 3 yo kindergarten.
Children need to be 4 by 30th April the year the child is to commence 4 yo kindergarten.
Parents may register their child for the sessional kindergarten waiting list on the website or by calling the Poets Grove administration officer on 9531 6563.

Once a child’s name is placed on the waitlist, within two weeks, the administration officer will send a return email/letter confirming receipt of application.
First round offers for 2010 sessional kindergarten will be sent out on 22nd June 2009 for 4yo and 17th July 2009 for 3yo offers.
If offers are not returned within two weeks the place will be offered to the next child on the waitlist.
Parents are strongly encouraged to notify Poets Grove with any change in contact details.
Once all groups are finalized a confirmation letter of their group choices will be sent to parents with orientation details for 2010.
