“The Early Childhood years are a time when food habits are being developed, many of which will be retained throughout life. Good nutrition is therefore essential to encourage healthy growth and prevent disease. Eating, drinking and mealtimes are linked with the development of children’s physical, social and behavioural skills. An environment that is conducive to influencing positive attitudes toward food choices is provided. The centre program includes food awareness experiences.

Children attending the long day care program experience a wide variety of nutritious food that is low in sugar, salt and additives provided in a safe and hygienic manner. An emphasis on non-processed, fresh and natural ingredients is part of the menu planning process. Children who arrive early are offered breakfast, we then have morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and maybe a late snack at 5.30.

The landscaped garden provides the opportunity for children to care for herbs, seasonal vegetables and fruit that are consumed by the children within the centre.

Children will be provided with choices at mealtimes and the amount of food provided will vary according to the developmental stage and activity level of the child.

A four week seasonal rotating menu is offered and the centre caters for children who may have allergies or food preferences. When possible children have some choice in the food offered.

Sayaka, our cook is creating beautifully presented, nutritious meals which tempt even the fusiest eaters.

Children attending the sessional program are encouraged to sit down and enjoy a healthy snack together. Parents/guardians are required to provide a piece of fruit and a nutritious snack each session.

All children attending the sessional program need to bring a plastic re-fillable drink bottle, filled with water. To promote your child’s confidence please ensure they are able to open the container in which they bring their food and drink and that all containers are clearly marked with their name.

All families will be consulted to ensure cultural relevance and special dietary requirements are considered.”

Please ensure that no food items contain nuts or traces of nuts.
